Test costs

The GRE should not be the reason you don’t apply.

Leadership Brainery partners with ETS to pass on fee reductions to first-generation, low-income and under-resourced students. With a partial fee waiver you take the GRE General Test for $100 instead of the standard $249, and you can request fully funded POWERPREP Plus practice tests alongside it.

Before you ask, check that you qualify

You identify as low income — eligible for the Pell Grant in undergrad — or as first-generation.
Under ETS policy you are a U.S. citizen or resident alien, you are a college senior or an unenrolled college graduate, and you plan to take the test in the United States, Puerto Rico, Guam or the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The second condition is ETS’s, not Leadership Brainery’s, and Brainery cannot waive it. Approved requests are emailed their voucher numbers within two weeks of approval. All vouchers expire in June 2027. Questions go to the Programs Team at programs@leadershipbrainery.org.

Worth doing at the same time

ETS runs its own GRE Fee Reduction Program, which is separate from this and has its own eligibility rules. Many students qualify for both. The Resource Hub also lists fee waivers for the LSAT and GMAT.
